23rd Kagyu Gunchoe: A Teaching on the Thirty Verses

Kun Kyong Charitable Trust is pleased to announce the schedule for the 23rd Kagyu Gunchö, including teachings by His Holiness the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa on the Thirty Verses as well as a transmission of Gampopa’s Collected Works given by His Eminence Goshir Gyaltsab Rinpoche.

Each winter, monks from Kagyu shedras [monastic universities] across India and Nepal gather together under the guidance of the Gyalwang Karmapa to engage in a month of intensive study and vigorous debate. This annual event is called the Gunchö, a Tibetan word which means ‘winter dharma’. This is its twenty third year.

As per the wishes of the 17th Gyalwang Karmapa, this Gunchö is being funded by the Gyalwang Karmapa’s Kun Kyong Charitable Trust. All previous Gunchös were funded by the office of His Holiness the Gyalwang Karmapa.

The responsibility of organising the practicalities of the Gunchö rotates between the shedras. This year’s organiser is Bokar Shedra Ober Chimmi Ling, based in Damdim, near Siliguri, West Bengal, India.
